Our workshops at the University of Geneva

What can we do to talk about racism at UNIGE?
We're going to be organising a series of theatre forum workshops on racism in the academic world, as part of the UNIGE's Cultural Activities. Two cycles of workshops will be organised: one in English and one in French. Each workshop will take place over three Friday afternoons. The first workshop will take place on Friday 23 February 2024.
If you would like to take part, all you have to do is register by clicking here. You are all very welcome!

Who are we?
This question may come a little late in the message, but perhaps you've always wondered how Specta(c)tor came about... Our association has been in existence for a year and a half now. It was initially Kléa Faniko, a professor at the University of Geneva, who contacted Nyan Storey to ask her to put on a theatre forum about sexism in the academic world. A few months later, Coffee Machine was born. After the first performance, we received numerous requests to repeat the forum: Specta(c)tor was officially born.
Since then, we've performed Coffee Machine several times: at CERN, at the University of Geneva, at a LERU (League of European Research Universities) conference, and elsewhere. We'll soon have the chance to broaden our horizons by playing at other venues in Switzerland, like the EPFL, for example.
Our new project since autumn 2023 is the Theatre Forum on Racism. We have organised a series of workshops to research the issue and gather testimonies from a number of partner organisations with audiences that may be particularly concerned by the issue. We will officially launch this forum theatre during Action Week Against Racism in March.
There are four variants: in the university environment, in the daily lives of teenagers, in the environment of reception centres for migrants, and a final version called You choose the title! in which we mix the above subjects. Don't hesitate to come and see us!
Before we go, we'd like to tell you... that we need you! Our events work mainly by word of mouth. So please don't hesitate to spread the word about our projects. Over the next few months, we'll be playing in a number of Swiss cities, including Lausanne, Neuchâtel and Bern. If what we're doing can reach more and more people, it's thanks to you, thanks to the confidence you've shown in us. There would be no point in organising these theatre forums if we didn't want you to take part.
Well done for reading all the way through to the end - you're one of the bravest 5%! We promise that our second contact will be a little shorter ;-)

See you soon!
